Relay For Life...Team TA TA

CANCER...such an ugly word that seems to have impacted everyone's life in some way. My sweet friend/boss Andrea was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug. 09 and has conquered the beast. To show our support, we decided to have a team from work in the St. George American Cancer Relay For Life on April 23/24. We decided to name our team "Team Ta Ta" and we all got "Save the TaTa's" shirts. We set up an awesome camp and had a delicious dutchoven dinner (thanks Scott) and walked & ran our brains out! It was so much fun & really meaningful to all of us! FIND A CURE!!!

For Easter this year we all met up in Washington & went to a park near Matt & Keely's house. It was a beautiful day (the weather in Enterprise that day was awful) and the kiddos really enjoyed being outside! We had some KFC (yum) and just hung out. It was a really nice day! Here a few pics of the day & Easter morning the Easter Bunny found Kenzie at our house! Whew...we were afraid he would not be able to find her!!

Poor Tom has had so much medical stuff in the past month & therefore the blogging has been seriously neglected!
Tom was scheduled to have a tri-level back fusion surgery in Provo with a reknowned surgeon on Feb. 24th. A routine bone scan 2 weeks before the surgery found a problem in his right femur bone. He has no marrow in 14cm of the femur and lesions all over the bone. He had to go in for an emergency biopsy (we still do not have concrete results at this time) and then 5 days later he had the back surgery. Needless to say, it was horrible for him but he is slowly making progress every day.
He is gonna be a new man when he is all healed up!

I need to clarify about the picture of Matt sporting those lovely underwear on my previous post...and yes, he is gonna kill me if he finds out that is on here! I always get the standard socks, underwear, pjs etc for the boys each year for Christmas. Well, I am gonna blame it on my bum foot and the swine flu.. but somehow I ended up getting these lovely striped tighty whities for Matt, not to mention they were a size 46 Waist!!! He was so funny, I was making breakfast & came in the living room and he was modeling them for everyone! That kid makes me laugh & I love him to pieces!

Christmas was a little rough for me this year...I had surgery on my foot in October and had just gotten the cast off the first week of December when I slipped in the snow & reinjured it. Needless to say...I was not happy & was back in the cast. Then to add insult to injury...I got the Swine Flu 7 days before Christmas! I thought I might die.. but I didn't and by Christmas Eve I actually felt human & even managed to make Christmas Eve Dinner with Tom's help. Matt, Keely & the twins came and stayed at our house that night as well as Skyler & Kenzie so it was really nice. Everyone had a great Christmas and enjoyed each other. I love my family!

Matt & Keely got married on Nov. 13, 2009 and it was such a lovely evening! Keelys mother did a beautiful job with the decorations & Keely's sisters, grandma, mom & aunt all made hundreds of little pies to serve. It was so fun & couldn't have been more perfect. We are happy for Matt & Keely and especially for Teagun & Taisley!!

Kenzie came to visit this weekend and she was so excited that all the Christmas decorations were up at our house! She was especially drawn to the tree and all the presents under it...she can read now and loved showing us which ones had her name on them! After we took her home on Sunday evening, I was going to turn the tree lights off for the night & noticed something under the tree. I picked it up & it was green construction paper folded like an envelope & it said "santa" on it so I opened it. Kenzie had written a letter & cut out a picture of a rollercoaster toy from the Target ad & put in with it. The letter said: Dear Santa, Please bring me this rollercoaster for Christmas. Love, Kenzie

So Matt finally proposed officially to Keely! He is so funny....he put the ring in a diaper while he was in changing one of the babies. He yelled to Keely that she needed to come & see the diaper he was changing cuz the baby must be sick!!! She came in & was all concerned & opened up the diaper & found the ring! She was way excited. The big day is November 13th (yes, that's Friday the 13th) at the Bloomington Stake Center.

My hot husband is turning 47 years old today!!! I want him to know how much I love and appreciate him & everything he does for our family. He works so hard out on that truck, away from home all week & he is a lot of pain with his back but he just keeps on going. Everyone that knows Skyler knows that the kid lives to hunt...doesn't matter what or where, if there is a hunt, he usually ends up right in the middle of it. Sunday afternoon, our friend Randy called & said one of his relatives had an antelope tag that she hadn't filled and Sunday was the last day of the hunt. He asked Skyler to go out in the valley with them and help get this gal an antelope. Needless to say, Skyler was all over it! Sure enough, about 9pm I got a text with a picture of the antelope & a message saying they were coming to hang it in our shed to skin it. I had to get some pics of the hunters (left the gal out to protect the innocent)!

Redneck Weed Control

Well... there's no denying we are definately REDNECKS for sure!! We have 1 1/2 acres of property where our home is and it is a huge job trying to keep up with all our yards & trees, let alone weed control. Tom was complaining about the fact that we had sprayed twice already this summer and yet the weeds in the back lot were still out of control so Skyler showed up with a solution! Her name is Nana(original huh? Kenzie named her ok...) and she is doing a dandy job of eating all our weeds. On occasion we clean out the frig and she is also our own little garbage disposal! The best part is when she gets loose and the neighbors show up holding her and her leash.... Oops!

It seems like yesterday that Matt & Keely were bringing the twins home from the hospital... so how can they be 2 months old already??? They are both so healthy and perfect in everyway. Can't imagine life without them already! They are starting to smile and make cute little noises. Taisley has always done funny things with her tongue since she was born and now Teagun has found his tongue as well... so cute!

Sunday, September 6, 2009, we attended the Bloomington 5th Ward sacrament meeting to bless the twins. Keely's grandfather Cleon Fowler blessed & named them. We had lots of family there including my brother Marc & nephew Blake who stood in the circle when the babies were blessed. We are thankful for these sweet little babies and love them to pieces!

We were so excited to get a call from Blake & Kelsie telling us they would like to come to see us in Enterprise and attend the blessing for the twins! Blake & Kelsie just got married, an due to the birth of the twins on the same day, we were unable to attend so it was fun to meet Kelsie & have them visit. We took them horse riding and rode the 4 wheelers and then they attended church with us on Sunday to bless the babies. It was fun & we hope to see all the Bowler clan soon!

Matt is the birthday boy today... he is 23 years old! How can that be possible because I am only 29??? Matt is such a great son! He has a gentle way that makes him so easy to love & he is also hilarious... he always makes me laugh! He got his love of reading (especially in the bath tub & yes he will be very mad at me for this) from his mother and his love of fishing from his dad. We are so proud of Matt in his new role of "daddy" to his sweet little twins Teagun & Taisley. We love you and are so blessed to have you as our son Matthew! Happy Birthday!!

It is not possible but it's true!!! Kenzie started Kindergarten at Bloomington Hills Elementary today and this grandma cried when mamma sent the pictures to her! Kenzie was soooo excited she could hardly stand it. She got right on the bus without any hesitation! Her little friend that goes to preschool with her named Maddi is in her class & they ride the bus together so that makes it a lot better. Good luck my little one.... I love you forever!

So the big day finally arrived... our beautiful little twins made their entrance into the world on July 1, 2009 at 7:02 and 7:03. Taisley Renee Cooper arrived first weighing in at 6 pounds 13 oz and 19.25 inches. One minute later Teagun Ryan Cooper arrived weighing in at 6 pounds 4 oz and 19.50 inches. The birth went perfectly and Keely is a real trooper! Matthew was so cute with the babies as they were handed to him, tears streamed down his face... my big tough guy! We are so blessed and happy to have them in our lives!

I took Kenzie to the movie UP 3D today before I took her back to her mom. We had so much fun, ate lots of popcorn & laughed alot! After the movie we got a hamburger & went to the City Splash Pad Park. Kenzie rolled up her pant legs & went in! She had so much fun & it is really a beautiful park. So I gave up all soda pop and carbonated beverages on January 1, 2008. I did it for several reasons, the biggest reason being that I felt crappy when I drink carbonation but I was way addicted!!!
I really didn't miss it as much as I thought I would, except the social aspect of going to get a drink with the hubby or my girlfriends.
Every once in a while I would get a craving for "the burn" but I would get something else to drink and be fine.... AND THEN.... one day last week at work, my evil co-workers (and BFF's) tempted me and I gave in!!! That first taste was soooo delicious and I sucked that baby down. The problem is, now I want another, and another..... I must stop!!!

We finally had a beautiful calm day one Sunday. Tom had left to go on the truck so Skyler, Kenzie and I decided to take some snacks and go out in Beryl to shoot some Chizzlers. We had a great time and really shot it up! Kenzie thought it was so cool! She would say "there's another one daddy, shoot it!" She wanted to get out and look at them after we shot them, strange child! After we ran outta bullets, we took Kenzie on down to the railroad tracks to put pennies on the track. We played around and waited for quite a while but no trains came. We had lots of fun anyways!

The Ta-Ta's got together on April 21st for our monthly outing! We had so much fun... dinner at Texas Roadhouse (note: if you are a waitress & expect to make money, do NOT be mean to the Ta-Ta's!) We laughed and ate and hung out for quite a while and then made our way to the hotel where my sister works to sit in the hot tub! Easter Egg Hunt

This year we decided to take Kenzie to the Tonaquint Nature Preserve for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. It was really hot and there were so many kids & not much organization but Kenzie still had a good time! She found an egg with the "grand prize" inside. She won 2 passes to swim at Sand Hollow, a T-Shirt, a frisbie & lots of candy & goodies!

We finally had a fairly nice day a couple of weekends ago when Kenzie was at our house. We decided to go up to Ox Valley and do Tin Foil Dinners. Kenzie was so excited. She helped papa make the dinners and get the firewood gathered. She played by the creek and caught lizards and even found a crawdad! We roasted marshmellows and made s'mores after we ate our dinners. It was a fun day and so good to get out in the hills after being couped up all winter!

Everyone that knows Tom & Matt knows what great fishermen they are. Even in the winter, they can't get it out of their systems so they went up to Enterprise Resevoir and tried some Ice Fishing. They had a blast and caught some really nice fish several weekends in a row.

Kenzie loves to come to the farm where her daddy keeps his horse and see all the animals and ride the horses & sheep! One of the guys keeps a little miniature pony there and said we could saddle her up and let Kenz ride her. She was so excited! She said she was naming the pony "Butterscotch" and we couldn't get her to get off. She had so much fun riding! Her daddy is so proud. Love that cowgirl!

Every year Grandma Cooper has a Valentine Party for our family. Everyone brings a valentine for everyone and she cooks a fun lunch that includes "pigs in a blanket" and fruit dipped in yummy hot fudge sauce! It is always lots of fun and the kids look forward to it and love hanging out with the cousins. It is fun to see how much the kids grow and change each year... look how big Kash is already! It seems like it has snowed every few days this winter and I know I should be thankful for the moisture but I am SICK of snow! I would like to be laying on the beach in Hawaii and have tried to convince Tom that we should move to Honolulu... we could find jobs and live cheap, right? Kenzie is the only one that doesn't seem to mind the snow... in fact she loves it! She had a snowball fight with me and of course she won!

We call ourselves "The Ta Ta's" (that is an entirely different story for a different day) and I seriously don't know what I would do without them. Thursday, Jan. 15, we discovered we had no hot water at our house. I called Matt & he put in a new water heater & still no hot water! I got home from work & we ate dinner & still no hot water when it was time to do dishes. I opened the access panel that goes under our house to have a look & it was clear full of water! We have the best friends ever... 1 phone call & I had guys there with pumps to pump out the water & ready to do whatever was needed. We called a plumber (Matt was a little overwhelmed to handle by himself) and he was there in 20 minutes. He had to literally go under water to get down to see what was going on. Unfortunately, there was not access under the house to the pipe that broke. It was under the cast iron tub in our main bathroom. He came back the next morning at 7am and he and Matt worked to dig through the bathroom floor. Then they had to dig from outside into the bathroom and also take the wall out from my bedroom closet into the bathroom. After lots of mud and digging, the pipe was replaced and things are drying out. Matt worked the next 2 days securing up under the tub from all the rotted wood. Of course Tom was brokedown on the truck during all of this! Thanks to all of our great friends for all your help & especially my 2 boys for all your hard work putting things back together!

Christmas 2008

Christmas at the Cooper Household was kinda quiet this year. It was Kenzie's turn to spend Christmas Eve & Morning with her mom so it was just Skyler and Matt with us. We had Grandma Cooper (Tom's mother) Christmas Eve and day as well. We cooked a delicious prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner and it was yummy! After presents were opened, Grandma Cooper went home and Kenzie came for the rest of the weekend. She was so excited to get to open more presents! She got a Nintendo DS with several games and that kept her occupied most of the day! Little one's are what it's all about on Christmas!

Let It Snow..... We got the first snow of the year and Kenzie insisted that we get the sled out and take her sledding! It was so cold but the sun was shining and it was beautiful. She had a blast and didn't want to go inside even though she was freezing to death! We finally talked her in with hot chocolate with little marshmellows on top. She is such a funny kid and we love her so much!

This holiday season has been a tough one for our family. We miss Ryan so very much and our hearts are empty without him but we are also very blessed and have so much to be thankful for! I love and cherish my family and the many memories we have made and will continue to make in the coming years. As Christmas draws near, I am trying to remember the true meaning and spirit of the season and be thankful for all the blessing I have in my life. This year we had Thanksgiving dinner in Beaver Dam, AZ at Shandee & Ricky's new house. They have a beautiful new home and we are so happy for them. We met Ricky's family and they were all so nice. We had a great dinner and lots of fun visiting and catching up with each other. It was especially nice to be together with the Bowler family this year. Last Thanksgiving, Marc was called to SLC for a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, the kidney failed during the surgery and Marc went through 13 hours of surgery for nothing. We are so thankful he is with us and doing well. We will keep asking in our prayers for him a new kidney that works!

Four Wheelin....

We love to take the four wheelers out in the mountains and explore! A few weeks ago, the weather was so nice that we met Matt & Keely down near Gunlock and rode out the the Naming Caves. There is the neatest cave that you have to climb up into and it has really cool petroglyphs of corn gods, etc. There are lots of indian writings all over and we took a picnic lunch and made a day of it. Wish We Were There!!!

One year ago at this time, we were in Hawaii laying on Waikiki Beach! It was the first trip alone that we got to take and it was so much fun. We went to Pearl Harbor on Veteran's Day and it was very emotional to be there among so many older veterans and hear the stories and see the tears. We also went snorkling in the Haunama Bay and it was awesome!! We hope to go back and take the boys and maybe even the grandkids. Love Hawaii!!!

Matt is such a good kid and I love him to pieces! He loves the little ones and they love him. He is big and tough but he is really a big teddy bear. He works hard and plays hard but has always been such a wonderful son. We love you Matty!

Thinking of Ryan

October 26, 2008... Today would have been Ryan's 27th Birthday. Hard to believe he is really gone when we are all missing him so much! We don't want to dwell on the accident that took Ry from us but felt it appropriate to visit the site today and take flowers for Ryan. His uncle Mat built this awesome cross up on the hill above the area. It overlooks the valley and as we stood up there to leave the flowers, lots of truckers honked their horns and waved in respect. It was a beautiful day and we remembered lots of good times with Ry. Luv ya Ryan!

Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, on a crisp morning with a fresh carpet of first snow, Ryan Thomas Cooper was taken to his final resting place in beautiful Pine Valley, UT. Our family gathered at the home of Ryan's maternal grandparents (Joe & Joan VanSeters) to scatter Ryan's ashes. Grandpa Joe said a beautiful dedicatory prayer and then family members took turns paying their final respects to Ryan and scattering his ashes amongs the beautiful grounds of the cabin. Ryan always loved going to Pine Valley and he loved being in the mountains. I think we all felt a since of calm and peace as we left Ryan in this special place for the eternities. We love and miss you Ry! We will keep you safe in our hearts forever.

Claudine Cooper Turns 80

The Cooper Clan recently gathered to celebrate the matriarch of our family on the occasion of her 80th Birthday. Claudine Cooper was born on Sept. 23, 1928. We had a lovely dinner at the home of son Craig and Elaine Cooper in Santa Clara on Sept. 28th. It was a nice evening and good to be together again for the first time since Ryan's funeral. We love you Grandma Cooper!

Ryan & Kaysha's Anniversary

Today would have been Ryan & Kaysha's 3rd Anniversary. Our hearts are sad today as we remember Ryan and all the wonderful memories we have of him. We can't possibly know how hard this day is for Kaysha, but we love her and will be thinking of her all day. Hold onto those memories Kaysha.... no one can ever take them away from your heart!

Kenzie is such a princess! We love her and enjoy her visits on weekends at our house. She is 4 and is such a little artist. She loves to make cards and pictures for everyone. She spends hours doing her artwork and is so proud when we hang it on our frig. We love you so much Kenz and we are so glad you are in our family....

Vegas Baby!

I have the best girlfriends a girl could have! The 4 of us went to Vegas in August for a girl's weekend. We had a blast! We shopped, ate until we couldn't button our pants & hung out on the strip. We went to a super fun nightclub at the Belagio. The band rocked and we danced like we were 20 again! I love these girls!

On August 11, 2008, our son Ryan Thomas Cooper was killed in a tragic accident near Mesquite, NV. He leaves behind his wife Kaysha, daughter Isabella Jade (10), stepson Kysen Goodspeed (8), and son Kash (10 mos) as well as lots of other family & friends. We love and miss him so much and it still seems unreal that he is gone. There is a huge whole in our hearts and in our family. We will be planting some quaking aspen trees in a special place at our home on Ry's birthday (Oct. 26) in his memory. We know we will be with Ryan again someday, until then our hearts are breaking...
